EBWPC's First Contra Costa County Event!

As the new East Bay Women's Political Caucus, our geographic reach includes Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and our first event in Contra Costa County will be Monday, March 2 – an event with the two women candidates in the special election for State Senate District 7.

Assemblymember Susan Bonilla and former Assemblymember Joan Buchanan will join us for a mixer and forum at the Walnut Creek Library. The event is open to the public, and you can get the details and RSVP here. We are excited to host this public event for the East Bay community to learn more about these exceptionally qualified women. Please join us!

Susan Bonilla

Susan Bonilla

Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla is a former high school teacher, mayor and county supervisor, who has worked to strengthen neighborhood schools, protect public safety services, and support job growth and working families across the state. Prior to her election to the State Assembly in 2010, Bonilla served as a Contra Costa County Supervisor and as the Mayor of Concord – the largest community in the State Senate District. While serving her local community, Bonilla built and expanded job-training programs and job creation efforts that successfully helped residents get back to work during the recession.

Joan Buchanan

Joan Buchanan

Assemblymember Joan Buchanan was elected to the California Assembly in 2008.  She recently finished her 3rd term representing the 16th Assembly District. A veteran school board member with 18 years of service on the San Ramon Valley School Board, including four terms as board president, education has been a lifelong priority for Assemblymember Buchanan.  Since her election to the Assembly, Joan has deepened her understanding of our education system and fought hard for increased funding for our schools.
